The CFP Group Process

At the Coastal Financial Planning Group we believe that having a defined process for making financial decisions is one of the keys to success. At the Coastal Financial Planning Group we have created a 3-step review process that is designed to help you review and create a sound financial strategy that is designed for your peace of mind.

During your 3-step review process we will discover if there are places where you may have money slipping through the cracks and any areas where you could shore up your financial plan and ensure your confidence and peace of mind during retirement.

Step 1: Taxes

The first step in our 3-step review process is to do a complete "look forward" review of your tax return. During this review we are looking to identify (a) your current tax situation, (b) identify things like phantom income and incorrect uses of taxable and tax-deferral strategies, and (c) uncover any missed opportunities for offsetting gains and losses. Sometimes, these missed opportunities could be as simple as selling a losing stock to offset a capital gain on a mutual fund that you may have missed by waiting until it was too late.

Our 3 Step Review can help you identify strategies for lowering or eliminating taxes, and find money that has been left to fall through the cracks of your financial plan - both now and in the future.

Step 2: Detailed Income Analysis

In the second step of our 3 part review process, we will do an analysis of your current and future income sources. During this analysis, we are looking to determine if you are maximizing the potential from your income streams in the most tax efficient method and if you have adequate income to meet your future needs.

Additionally, we will review your retirement income plan and determine if it is protected against your personal inflation rate, which may be different than government quoted inflation rates. As part of your review we will determine what your personal inflation rate is, based on what you will be specifically spending your money on during retirement.

Step 3: Investment & Risk Review

The third step in our review process is to do an in-depth risk analysis of your existing investments to make sure that your risk exposure matches your investment goals.

As part of your 3-step review, we will ask you a simple set of questions that will help us determine what your ideal "risk level" is.  This will help us ensure that your portfolio isn't exposing you to more volatility or potential for loss than you are comfortable or can afford to tolerate.

Ongoing & Proactive Management

As life changes, so should your plans. We will meet on a regular basis and re-evaluate your financial plan, make adjustments as necessary, and always ensure that you are on target to achieve our objectives.

In addition to our regular reviews, anytime there is a significant financial decision to be made, you can trust that we will be there to help guide you along the way and help you ensure you are making the best decisions for yourself and your loved ones.

Clarity, Confidence & Peace of Mind

At The Coastal Financial Planning Group, we have worked hard to develop our 3-part review process into a system that investors can use for ALL of their financial decision making. By having a process in place for making sound financial decisions, you help to minimize or eliminate some of the greatest risks in retirement. History has shown us that when investors make decisions based on emotions, rather than facts and logic, they are more likely to lose significantly, and lock in their losses for the long-term.

As part of the 3-step review process, we will help you create your own financial decision making process that is built around your needs and goals. Whether you are looking to sell Real Estate, looking to lower your taxes, or reduce the volatility in your investments the 3-Step Review Process is designed to help you make the strongest financial decision for yourself and your loved ones.
